In this class, we will learn how to use a sewing machine by making a square pillow with nine-patch design! Instructor Andrea Verley will teach you how to thread the machine and bobbin, stitch and backstitch. This is a great class for beginners and for people who wonder if they could pull that machine out of the closet and make it sing again.
The pillow we’ll create is 12-inches wide and tall and will give us an opportunity to learn to sew a quarter inch seam, match fabric intersections and turn fabric while sewing. Mature children with some machine sewing experience are welcome (with adult present).
You will leave the class with basic sewing machine knowledge and a finished, stuffed pillow!
We will provide you with a sanitized sewing machine and fiber fill. When we finalize your reservation, we’ll find out if you would like us to supply fabric (no additional charge). If you would like to bring your own fabric, you’ll need to bring the following in 100% cotton fabric:
(1) 12-1/2” square of fabric (for back of pillow)
(2) 6-1/2” squares of fabric in one color or pattern
(2) 6-1/2” squares of fabric in a second color or pattern
Thread to match or contrast with your fabric – your choice – have fun!
If you bring uncut fabric, we have sanitized fabric scissors and cutting rulers you can use to cut your fabric to size. We’ll supply sanitized scissors for cutting your thread.
