Hello, everyone…

We are concerned about the welfare of our family, friends, neighbors and the greater community during this time of pandemic. Your health and safety is our first priority. With that in mind, we are working on alternative plans to bring our first Community Quilt Project to its completion. Our 48 block quilters will remain ‘on the job’ and we will have a new date to announce as soon as guidance for a successful event is available.

On that date, we bring all 48 blocks and the embroidered signatures together and will celebrate our generous, kind community.  Thank you to everyone for your participation and the good wishes of all.  We’ll be sure everyone knows what’s happening next as soon as we do!

If you are a participant and have questions, please call me at the shop – I’m sending emails to everyone but understand they can get lost sometimes! The shop phone number is (740) 901-3041.

We’re excited to present our first Community Quilt Project hosted in our space at Rabbit & Rocket!

We are seeking volunteers of all quilting experience to contribute blocks and embroiderers to hand-stitch signatures during a single day of sewing on Saturday, March 21, 2020 from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm. It’s International Quilting Day – what better way to celebrate!

The theme for this first quilt is commemoration of the 200th birthday of General William Tecumseh Sherman, native son of Lancaster, Ohio.  General Sherman played a pivotal role in the ending of America’s Civil War and is regarded as one of our country’s greatest military minds. In his private life he was a gifted artist and his pencil drawings are on display at the Sherman House here in Lancaster. With this quilt, we celebrate his legacy of helping to end the Civil War and his interest in artful creation.

There are a few ways to contribute to this project.  You may:

  • Volunteer to sew a block
  • Embroider a block sewer’s signature
  • Assist or advise sewers

Please visit our Block Contributor registration page (scroll down for the form) to volunteer to sew a block.

Please visit our Embroidery Contributor registration page if you’d like to hand embroider signatures.
