This is a two-part class limited to four students so you’ll receive lots of hands-on instruction. Your purchase of this first class covers the fees for both classes. You will purchase your preferred fabrics and threads separately.

It seems like everyone knows someone who is a quilter and if you would like to join that fun club, this is the class for you!

Longtime quilters and talented guides Anne Cornejo and Andrea Verley will teach this project over two Saturdays.  Anne will teach the first class to help you learn:

  • How to use a rotary cutter, mat and quilting ruler
  • How to sew fabric together using a 1/4-inch seam
  • Assemble a simple quilt block
  • Pressing using an iron (you’ll learn something new!)

You’ll cut and assemble the top of your quilt in this first class using these skills.

The following Saturday, February 1st, you’ll bring your quilt top and will complete your quilt with teacher Andrea Verley. You will learn how to sandwich your quilt top with batting and backing and then quilt it all together using a walking foot on the sewing machine.  We will then complete our quilts by adding the binding.

Count on up to three hours for each class.  Your registration for the first class covers payment for both classes.

You will need to purchase your fabric and thread. Please bring the following quilting fabric in 100% cotton:

1 yard of focus fabric (the main fabric)

1/4 yard each of two coordinating fabrics

Coordinating thread in a color that matches or complements your fabric choices.

The fabric amount will cover you for the front, back and binding of the finished piece. Your cost should be around $15.00.

Investing in fabric from a quilt shop may make your journey a little easier – area quilting store options include Farmer’s Country Store (Lancaster), Nelsonville Quilt Company (Nelsonville) and The Laughing Ewe (Canal Winchester). Fabric from Joann and Hobby Lobby are fine choices as well – just be sure whatever you choose is 100% cotton.

We will supply: sewing machines, rotary cutter, cutting mat, iron for pressing fabric, quilting rulers and the batting for inside the quilt.
