Knit the Barley Hat – POSTPONED
Sat March 14 @ 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm| $35.00
SPECIAL NOTE: If you are registered for this class, please check your email for a message from us about your reservation. We are postponing this class and our events for Saturday, March 14th to support community efforts to contain accidental spread of the COVID-19 virus in order to shorten its spread (so we can all get back to normal routines quicker!).
We will be posting new dates for this and other exciting knitting and crochet classes with Nancy and Nadine in just a few days. Please contact the shop if you have any questions – we are still open for business during regular hours and would love to see you. Our new ‘Hello’ is a quick tap of knitting needles! Shop phone: (740) 901-3041.
On this festive day of celebrating all things yarn, please join Nadine Borovicka and Nancy Baur to learn how to knit the Barley Hat by Tin Can Knits. This pattern is available for free at Ravelry.com (requires free registration to the site) and has several size options to fit everyone. Check the pattern to confirm the amount of yarn you will need to complete your hat.
The hat is knit in the round from the bottom up, so students will learn to cast on and join for in the round knitting.
Nadine and Nancy will explain the difference between techniques for knitting in the round and will teach how to read patterns with multiple size options.
Class samples will be made using Stonehedge Fiber Mill Worsted Shepherd’s Wool.
Students should bring their own needles and yarn (or you can purchase yarn for class on this day from the Yarnbyrds truck or in-store at Rabbit & Rocket).
Depending on the size of your hat, you will need 100 – 200 yards of worsted weight yarn, size 6 16-inch circular needles, size 8 16-inch circular needles, size 8 DPNs. (If you’d like to use the magic loop technique, you will need size 6 40-inch circular and a size 8 40-inch circular needles.)
