Sashiko, the ancient Japanese needlework practice, is surging in popularity thanks to its mindfulness and beautiful simplicity. It is wonderful for people who find cross stitch and embroidery challenging to the eye or hand but is a great addition to any needle art fan’s repertoire. The key difference is the method – the needle is ‘weaved’ into the fabric, then the fabric is pulled to complete several stitches at once.

For this beginner class, focused on technique and getting familiar with the art form, we will provide a straight grid pattern and work on our flow and movement. If you’re able to master and complete the grid within class time you can begin a curved pattern for you to practice. You’ll take home your Sashiko fabrics, needle and thread.

Class will last 90-minutes but all are welcome to continue stitching until 8:00 PM.

Everything you will need will be provided in this class – please feel free to bring your favorite beverage and a spirit of adventure.
